• 1 - College Football - In a game remembered for its numerous trick plays, including a hook and lateral and a Statue of Liberty play, the Boise State Broncos defeat the Oklahoma Sooners 43-42 to win the Fiesta Bowl in dramatic fashion.
• 1 - Darts - Raymond Van Barneveld beats Phil Taylor 7-6 in sets to win the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship.
• 5 - Cricket -  Australia beat  England in the fifth Test in Sydney, and completes 5-0 whitewash in the 2006-07 Ashes series for the first time in 86 years.
• 5 - Tennis - Russia win the 2007 Hopman Cup after 2:1 win over Spain in the final.
• 5 - Ice hockey - Canada wins the 2007 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Sweden with 4:2 win over Russia in the final.

• 11 - Football (soccer) - David Beckham announces that he will leave Real Madrid to play for LA Galaxy in Los Angeles.
• 12 - Golf - Tadd Fujikawa becomes second youngest player ever to make a PGA Tour cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
• 20 - The first Argentine major rivalry of the year was played between River Plate and Boca Juniors in Mar del Plata. The match ended in a 2-0 score in favor of River Plate.

• 24 - Figure skating - Aliona Savchenko / Robin Szolkowy win the gold medal at the pairs event at the 2007 European Figure Skating Championships. Maria Petrova / Alexei Tikhonov win the silver medal. Dorota Siudek / Mariusz Siudek, skating in front of a homecrowd, win the bronze.
• 25 - Figure skating - Brian Joubert wins the gold medal at the men's event at the 2007 European Figure Skating Championships. It is his second time winning this competition. Tomáš Verner wins the silver medal. He is the first Czech man in 15 years to medal at the European Championships. Kevin van der Perren wins the bronze. He is the first Belgian man in 50 years to medal at the European Championships.
• 26 - Figure skating - Isabelle Delobel / Olivier Schoenfelder win the gold at the ice dancing event at the 2007 European Figure Skating Championships. Oksana Domnina / Maxim Shabalin win the silver. Albena Denkova / Maxim Staviski win the bronze.
• 27 - Figure skating - Carolina Kostner wins the gold medal in the ladies event at the 2007 European Figure Skating Championships. She is the first Italian lady to win the European Championships. Sarah Meier wins the silver medal and Kiira Korpi wins the bronze. Meier is the first Swiss lady in 27 years to medal at the European Championships.

• 27 : Tennis - 81st ranked Serena Williams completes an incredible run at the Australian Open by crushing No.1 seeded Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-2 in the final. It was Serena's 3rd Australian Open title and 8th Grand Slam overall. She also became the third-lowest ranked player in history to capture a Grand Slam title.

February

• 4 - The Indianapolis Colts defeated the Chicago Bears, 29-17 in Super Bowl XLI at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The win was the Colts' first Super Bowl Championship since their 1970-71 team, when the franchise was still in Baltimore. Quarterback Peyton Manning is named MVP.
• 8 - Figure Skating - Shen Xue / Zhao Hongbo win the pairs event at the 2007 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships. Compatriots Pang Qing / Tong Jian place second. Rena Inoue / John Baldwin win the bronze.
• 9 - Figure Skating - Marie-France Dubreuil / Patrice Lauzon win the ice dancing event at the 2007 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships. Defending champions Tanith Belbin / Ben Agosto win the silver medal and Tessa Virtue / Scott Moir win the bronze.
• 9 - Figure Skating - Evan Lysacek wins the men's event at the 2007 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships. This is his second gold, and third medal, from the competition. Past champion Jeffrey Buttle finished second. Jeremy Abbott wins the bronze medal. It is his first ISU medal.
• 10 - Figure Skating - Kimmie Meissner wins the ladies event at the 2007 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships. Emily Hughes wins the silver medal. Joannie Rochette wins the bronze medal.
• 28 - Figure Skating - Keauna McLaughlin / Rockne Brubaker win the gold medal in the pairs event at the 2007 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. Vera Bazarova / Yuri Larionov win the silver medal. Ksenia Krasilnikova / Konstantin Bezmaternikh win the bronze medal.

March

• 1 - Figure Skating - Stephen Carriere wins the gold medal in the men's event at the 2007 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. Patrick Chan wins the silver medal and Sergei Voronov wins the bronze. Chan is the first Canadian man in 23 years to medal at the World Junior Championships.
• 2 - Figure Skating - Ekaterina Bobrova / Dmitri Soloviev win the gold medal in the ice dancing event at the 2007 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. Grethe Gruenberg / Kristian Rand win the silver medal and Kaitlyn Weaver / Andrew Poje win the bronze medal. This the first medal for Estonia at an ISU Championship.
• 3 - Figure Skating - Caroline Zhang wins the gold medal in the ladies event at the 2007 World Junior Figure Skating Championships. Mirai Nagasu wins the silver and Ashley Wagner wins the bronze. This is the second consecutive medal sweep for the United States in Junior Ladies at a major event. Zhang and Wagner were both part of the sweep at the 2006 Junior Grand Prix Final.
• 17 - Tennis - Daniela Hantuchova captures her 1st title in 5 years when she defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4, 6-3 at the Sony Ericsson Open. Her only other title came at this event 5 years ago, and also it was the same score (though her opponent was Martina Hingis)
• 31 - Tennis - Serena Williams continued her comeback year as she defeated Top seed/World No.1 Justine Henin 0-6, 7-5, 6-3. After being bageled in the first set and down 4-5 with two championship points on Henin's serve, Serena kept fighting and reeled off six consecutive games to lead 0-6, 7-5, 3-0. Though Justine won the next 3 games, Serena was able to hold of Justine and take the remaining 3 games.

April

• 2 - The University of Florida became the first NCAA university to win a college football and basketball title in the same academic year, by defeating the Ohio State Buckeyes, 84-75 in the Final Four Championship Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. This also marks the first time that a team has repeated as national champions with the same starting lineup.
• 3 - The Tennessee Lady Vols defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights to capture an unprecedented seventh Women's National Basketball Championship at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
• 25 - Swansea University beat Cardiff University 18-0 at Cardiff Arms Park to win the Welsh Varsity Rugby Challenge.

May

• 6 - Basketball - Panathinaikos won their fourth Euroleague title before a partisan crowd on their home court in Athens. The Greens defeated defending champions CSKA Moscow 93-91.
• 12 - Lacrosse - The Rochester Knighthawks defeated the Arizona Sting 13-11 to win their first National Lacrosse League Champion's Cup and second MILL/NLL championship.

June

• 6 - The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Ottawa Senators 6-2 to win the Stanley Cup, four games to one. Scott Niedermayer won the Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
• 14 - The San Antonio Spurs won their fourth NBA Championship by sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers in four games. Tony Parker was named Finals MVP.

July

• 22 - Women's World Gliding Champions:

• 7 - Baseball: Barry Bonds became Major League Baseball's career leader in home runs amid a cloud of controversy regarding his suspected use of performance-enhancing drugs by hitting the 756th home run of his career, surpassing Hank Aaron's previous mark of 755.

September

• 1 - College football: In a stunning upset, the fifth-ranked Michigan Wolverines were defeated by the Appalachian State Mountaineers 34-32. The Mountaineers became the first-ever NCAA Division I FCS (formerly Division I-AA) team to defeat an AP nationally ranked Division I FBS (formerly Division I-A) team.

• 1 - Baseball: Rookie Boston Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz threw a no-hitter in only his second major league start, defeating the Baltimore Orioles 10-0. Buchholz is only the third pitcher in MLB history to do so in his first or second start.

• 8 - Tennis: Justine Henin defeats Svetlana Kuznetsova to win the U.S. Open Women's Singles title.

• 9 - Athletics: the sprinter Asafa Powell of Jamaica breaks the previous record set by himself at the 100 metres sprint (9.77 seconds) and set a new World Record of 9.74 seconds.

• 9 Roger Federer defeats Novak Djokovic to win the U.S. Open Men's Singles title. The victory gave him his second consecutive Grand Slam victory and his fourth consecutive US Open victory.

• 21 - Baseball: Boston Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett earns his 20th win, become the Major Leagues' first twenty-game winner in 2007 and first since 2005. The last Boston pitcher to win 20 games in a season was Curt Schilling in 2004.

• 23 - Strength athletics: Mariusz Pudzianowski is the third man to win the World's Strongest Man contest for a fourth time. The others were Jón Páll Sigmarsson in 1990 and Magnús Ver Magnússon in 1996.

• 29 - Australian rules football: Geelong wins their first Australian Football League Grand Final since 1963, thrashing Port Adelaide by 119 points in the biggest Grand Final margin in VFL/AFL history. The final score was 24.19 (163) to 6.8 (44).

• 30 - National Rugby League: Melbourne Storm defeated the Manly Sea Eagles in the Rugby League Grand Final for 2007, 34-8 for their second title in the club's history.

• 30 - Athletics: Haile Gebreselassie of Ethiopia sets new World Record in the marathon at Berlin, Germany with a time of 2:04:26.

October

• 28 - Baseball: The Boston Red Sox complete a sweep of the Colorado Rockies to win their second World Series in four years.

November

• 4 - NFL: The 8-0 New England Patriots visit the 7-0 Indianapolis Colts in the latest meeting of unbeaten teams in NFL history. The Patriots erase a 20-10 fourth-quarter deficit to win 24-20.

• 4 - PBR: At the end of a season in which he won a new record eight events, Justin McBride wins his second Professional Bull Riders World Title in three years at the PBR Finals in Las Vegas.

• - In the Master's Cup, Roger Federer lost to Fernando Gonzalez, making it the first time in 4 and 1/2 years that Federer lost back to back matches.

• - Adrian Peterson, rookie running back of the Minnesota Vikings, sets a new single-game rushing record by rushing for 296 yards against the San Diego Chargers on November 4. Peterson broke Jamal Lewis's previous single game rushing record of 295 yards which he achieved in the 2003 season as a part of the Baltimore Ravens, playing against his current team, the Cleveland Browns.

• 30 - Mixed martial arts: Sam Vasquez, a fighter out of Houston, Texas, becomes the first fighter to die from injuries sustained in a sanctioned MMA bout in the United States. He was knocked out in an October 20 bout in Houston and collapsed shortly thereafter; after undergoing two brain surgeries, he suffered a stroke that left him comatose until his death.

• February 18: 2007 NBA All-Star Game at the Thomas & Mack Center - Final score is West All-Stars 153, East All-Stars 132. All-Star MVP: Kobe Bryant
• February 24: 2006-07 PBA Philippine Cup Finals - Barangay Ginebra Kings 96, San Miguel Beermen 94; Kings win series 4-2. Finals MVP: Jayjay Helterbrand.
• March 13 - April 2: 2007 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament at various sites throughout the United States. The Final Four was held March 31 and April 2 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Florida became the first team to repeat as champions since Duke in 1991 and 1992, and the first men's Division I team ever to repeat as champions with the identical starting lineup (Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer, Lee Humphrey, and Taurean Green). Brewer was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

• February 3 Chad Dawson becomes the WBC Light Heavyweight champion after defeating Tomasz Adamek by unanimous decision. Despite being knocked down from a straight right hand on round ten, Dawson dominates most of the fight with his speed.
• February 10 Shane Mosley becomes the WBC Welterweight champion by defeating Luis Collazo by unanimous decision.
• March 3 Rafael Marquez moves up in weight class and defeats Ring Magazine and WBC Super Bantamweight champion Israel Vazquez by 7th round technical knockout. Vazquez did not answer the bell after badly breaking his nose, having trouble breathing in the later rounds.
• March 10 Wladimir Klitschko successfully defends his IBF Heavyweight title after defeating Ray Austin by 2nd round knockout.

In the seventh round there was controversy as Marquez thoroughly dominated the round then gets knocked down by Barrera, in which referee Jay Nady ruled a slip. Nady then penalized Barrera for hitting while Marquez was on the canvas.
