Disasters on railway premises

Several major disasters have taken place in London Underground stations though not involving trains; the Kings Cross fire of 1987 (31 killed); the Bethnal Green crush disaster of 1943 (173 killed; the as yet unopened station was being used as an air raid shelter); the flooding of Balham tube station by a bomb in 1940, killing 68, and similar bomb disasters at Bank (56 killed) and Marble Arch (20 killed) - see link; and the 39 civilians and 3 terrorists who died in the 7 July 2005 London bombings.

The collapse of the London Charing Cross station roof on 5 December 1905 also falls in this category; 6 people were killed.
