Macleod is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Macleod, on the Hurstbridge railway line. Macleod is classed as a Premium station and is in Metcard Zone 2. FacilitiesMacleod is located between McNamara Street and Birdwood Avenue, with station access from both. The station consists of three platforms, two of them in an island format (the only station on the Hurstbridge line to have 3 platforms): Platform 1 (Flinders Street bound) has a large brick building with an enclosed waiting room, a ticket office and toilets, while platforms 2 & 3 (Hurstbridge & Flinders Street bound island platform) has a small fibro building. A large Metcard machine is located inside the waiting room, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small coin-only Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2 and 3. Stabling facilities are situated at the city end of the station. Macleod station opened on March 1, 1911.1 The line was the junction of the short Mont Park branch line from 1912 to 1964. The station was upgraded to Premium Station status in 2001. GalleryReferences
