Veolia Transport Auckland, formerly Connex Auckland Limited, is a division of Australasia's largest passenger train company, French-owned Veolia. It runs Auckland's urban passenger trains under contract from the Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) under their MAXX brand, on infrastructure owned and managed by ONTRACK. ARTA receives funding to subsidise these services from Land Transport New Zealand, the central government land transport funding agency, which receives funding from road user taxes and Crown appropriations, and from the Auckland Regional Council through rates.
